3 Days Trans-Siberian Journey (on the way to Moscow, Russia - 25-28/06)

Our 3 day train journey from Irkustk to Moscow started a little bit unreal. First everything went well and then it ended in a disaster... When we arrived in Irkustk train station on the 22.06.2011 we needed to buy our train ticket to Moscow. Luckily a young Russian couple helped us and we got the tickets for the 24.06.2011 at 14:05 Moscow time, which means 19:05 Irkustk time. For the 3 day train journey we decided to buy first class tickets to enjoy this great journey even more. We did not compare the time with anybody during the 2 days we spent in Irkutsk so we somehow did not realize that on the 21.06.2011 all the watches were changed to summer time. When arriving at the train station we thought we would be one hour in advance but no... we arrived 19h05 on platform 4 and a train was slowly departing. Diana was still saying "Don't worry, this is not our trainnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

We were lucky still to meet again another young Russian couple who helped us to get some money back for our lost tickets and to buy new ones for the second class ;-). Finally we departed at 2:20am on the 25.06.2011.

During our 3 days train marathon we saw a lot of train stations and often they are very beautiful and renovated. Sometimes they even have old locomotives show-cased outside like this one here:

Taking some fresh air...

In Siberia you see thousands of little "Dachas" (country cottages / summer houses) with beautiful gardens. And everybody grows potatoes ;-)

The delivery got delivered ;-)

For 3 days we were living on our upper berths. The berths under us were occupied by Sergio and Dimitry, our russian travel companions for this journey.

Enjoying the fresh breeze...

After 3 days train prison, we are free! The journey actually went fast. The train is moving like a baby cot and when you lay down you get sleepy all the time. You have breakfast around 9am and  the you sleep again till around 1pm - just like that. Otherwise we improved as-well our Russian with the passengers and in the end we were happy to have missed our first class train full of american tourists. We imagined that it must have been boring...
