The statues were underearthed and covered by a wood roof:
They are many explanation for the meaning of this guards.
But, we like the best the easy one that says: the statues are guarding the Qin Shihuangdi tomb.

That was interesting, again, to see how Chinese build an touristy park around the
historical site!
