Tobacco Harvest Cambodian Style (Koh Paen, Cambodia - 02/04)

The green tobacco plants are ready to be harvested.

With the good climate here the harvest goes all year round.

Covered in mountains of leaves...

...nearly every family on this island is working in the tobacco industry.

These women put the leaves on 30-40 cm thin sticks to be dried.

Here you can see the drying tobacco.

These photos bring back memories of our tobacco harvesting in East-German times. The difference is that we put the leaves with a long needle on to an around one meter long, thin string.
